Cox's Bazar is one of the most attractive tourist spots & the longest sea beach in the world (approx. 125 km long) as well as Bangladesh. Cox's Bazar is the tourist capital of Bangladesh .Cox’s Bazar is also known by the name "Panowa", the accurate translation of which means "yellow flower". Its other old name was "Palongkee". The modern Cox's Bazar derives its name from Captain Cox (died 1798) who was an army officer serving in British India. It has miles of golden sands, soaring cliffs, surfing waves, conch shells, pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, amusing seafood etc. The rise and fall of the tide here is not great, it is a good place for sea bathing. It is located 150 km south of Chittagong. It is very beautiful to see the setting-sun behind the waves of the sea. Every year many foreign and local tourist come here to enjoy their vacation. Mainly foreigners’come here in winter but Cox's Bazar sea beach is crowded almost through out the year. It is very hard to get an accommodation in the hotels if booking is not made earlier, especially in winter season. It is a very attractive place. Every one may enjoy it’s natural beauty. Bangladeshis are proud for it.
